Re-NEET: Deployment of 7 lakh officers for 20 lakh students, the whole country came together to take responsibility? Re-NEET 2026: Massive Security Shield as 7 Lakh Officers Are Deployed for 20 Lakh Students Nationwide
Re-NEET: Deployment of 7 lakh officers for 20 lakh students, the whole country came together to take responsibility On June 21, 2026, more than 2 million candidates took the NEET (UG) 2026 re-exam at 5,440 centers in India and 14 centers abroad. The exam was held in 13 languages, including Hindi and English. The National Testing Agency (NTA) said that this was not just the agency’s effort, but the result of the collective hard work of ‘Team India,’ with various departments along with central and state governments playing a key role.

Yesterday, on June 21, the re-NEET exam was completed across the country under tight security. During this, more than 2.2 million students took part in the exam. Now that the exam is over, a statement from the National Testing Agency has come out. They said that the exam being conducted properly is not just the agency’s effort, but also the result of Team India’s hard work, in which the central and state governments played an important role.
Care for every candidate
NTA said that extensive arrangements were made for all candidates, including over 10,000 students in the differently-abled category. Special arrangements were made for around 81 candidates with medical issues, including one child who had been in a road accident and another undergoing chemotherapy, but both didn’t want to miss the exam they had prepared for years. A plan was made to reach all of them in a way that no candidate would ever see.
Tight security arrangements
To conduct the exam properly, the centers had arrangements for Aadhaar-based biometric and face authentication, CCTV monitoring, jammers, and two-level frisking with the help of state police. National-level command and control centers were set up by the NTA and the Ministry of Education in 34 centrally funded institutions of the higher education department across every state and at district collector offices for CCTV monitoring.
The government’s collective effort
CAPF, the Ministry of External Affairs, the Postal Department, the Indian Air Force, the Ministry of Home Affairs, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the Department of Financial Services, the Ministry of Defence, the Ministry of Education, and our banking partners – SBI, Canara Bank, PNB, and UCO Bank, along with state governments and many other stakeholders, helped in conducting the exam.

The states that made special efforts
Several state governments made arrangements for students and parents. These included providing shade, water, and food at centers, keeping ambulances and medical facilities ready, and in many states offering free transportation for candidates on the exam day. The national protocol was applied at every center according to local needs. To conduct this exam, around 700,000 officers across India—including police teams, observers, and exam staff—were deployed, and this task was completed in a record 37 days.
NTA is especially grateful to the experts from academic institutions across the country who gave their personal time to help prepare multiple sets of question papers. Over 2 million candidates. One exam. The country’s administrative machinery—ministers, bureaucrats, police, district and local administration—all came together for a single day so that every candidate could sit and take the exam comfortably.
