Counterfeit notes smuggling from Pakistan–Bangladesh–Nepal, women were supplying them to 10 states by train :- UP ATS investigation has uncovered a big network involved in counterfeit currency smuggling. During questioning of Raja alias Sameerul and Azeem Khan, arrested from Kasganj, information came out about bringing fake notes from Pakistan into India via Bangladesh and Nepal, distributing them to 10 states, and ways to circulate them in the market. Several people are said to be involved in the network.

There has been a major revelation about counterfeit currency smuggling in Uttar Pradesh. During questioning by the UP ATS, it was found that the network supplying fake notes wasn’t limited to Uttar Pradesh but was spread across about 10 states, including Delhi. Last Saturday, Raja alias Sameerul and Azeem Khan from Kasganj were arrested.

During the interrogation of both, several important details came out about the supply of fake notes and the ways they were circulated in the market. The investigation revealed that batches of fake notes were being brought to India from Pakistan through Bangladesh and Nepal. Local boys on bikes were used to smuggle them across the border.

After this, trains were also being used to send the notes to different cities. It has been reported that large batches of fake notes were sent from one city to another through women on the trains. It has also come out that instead of normal or non-AC compartments, tickets were being booked in AC coaches for this.

Supply of fake notes through the Uttar Pradesh-Bihar border

During the questioning, it was also found out that places like vegetable markets, fruit markets, and goat markets were used to circulate the fake notes. It also came up that in the network, fake notes worth three lakh rupees were given in exchange for one lakh rupees of real notes. According to the investigating agencies, the supply had increased through Malda in West Bengal and the Uttar Pradesh-Bihar border adjacent to Nepal.

The mastermind running the network is on the run, ATS is searching for him

According to ATS, the caught Raja, also known as Sameerul, had a brother Jamirul who was running this network. The absconding Jamirul spread the network to several states over about three years. Now ATS is looking for him and three of his close associates. Both arrested suspects will soon be brought on police custody remand for questioning. Officials claim that this is the highest quality fake note network caught after demonetization.
